Piecemeal from Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! How's spring treating you so far? Ours has been wet up until now. We're supposed to get a relatively warm and sunny day today. Mike and I have been strategizing about how to get our grocery shopping done while still getting out and walking that new trail I've been eyeing. It's still dark outside, and so I can't tell yet if the forecast is correct. If so, we'll be heading out early for our beloved Egg McMuffin, followed by grocery shopping, followed by putting away groceries, followed by lunch, and ...

Sewing Structures from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and Happy Thursday. Smitty is happy to see a lot less snow and more grass from his living room perch. Can morning sunbaths be far behind? With the time change, we've been eating dinner in daylight, and the light late in the day has been a welcome sight.

With such nice weather I got out for a walk yesterday. I decided to walk at the bottom of our hill. I'm looking forward to seeing what the farmers will plant in their fields this year.

Cutting Up from Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's a wet Sunday here. We're expecting rain and some snow in the coming week. We may not see the sun again before April. Actually, it only feels that way sometimes. Ordinarily, we go south after Christmas, but we're staying home this year. We only just took a two-month trip this fall, and with fuel prices so high, it seems like a good winter to stay home. That's fine with me. I'm looking forward to lots and lots of sewing this winter.

There was yet another open slot on my list ...

Something Old, Something New from Cat Patches

The wind died down yesterday. We've had a bitterly cold east wind blowing for about a week, and so it was nice to be out without getting blown away. The kitties went with me to fill the bird feeders. (The kitties are especially fond of this task.) Smitty was excited to have a human outside with him. Humans are a rare breed this time of year.

Sadie brought her shadow self to the party.

Most of the leaves are gone from our trees now, but a few are still present. This Japanese maple is at the front of the ...

Testing an Adage from Cat Patches

It was a lovely day here yesterday...sunny, but chilly. Smitty demonstrated how to keep one's paws warm on a chilly morning. It's easy. Just tuck them under yourself, and your fingers will be warm as a kitty's paws.

My morning started as usual, blogging, then doing my slow-stitching. We were planning to take my new bike into town so I could ride it on a flat, paved surface. It was chilly and windy, and so we decided to wait until after lunch, hoping for warmer temperatures. So I made the divinity early. This stuff is so ...

Plenty of Piecing from ... Cat Patches

We were both moving slow yesterday. With Monday's activities being practically a total loss for the day, we were less-than-enthusiastic about our grocery shopping expedition. It wasn't too bad though, except for the way-too-chatty woman behind the butcher counter. I was only there for the meat, but I think I could write her biography now.

Before we left, I spent more than my usual amount of time stitching Pieces of the Past. I filled my hoop and then moved it for this morning's session.

In-house and occupied from Celtic Thistle Stitches

Well, isn't this a strange time to try out something new? I hope this finds you safe and well and finding lots of outlets for those creative urges.

Last month when I was due to post on my New to Me's I had succumbed to what might, or might not, have been the cause of the worldwide closure. I couldn't concentrate on anything so it is probably just as well that I didn't have the energy to post as who knows what gibberish I might have written :)

I was supposed to be attending a full day ...

Stepping out of that comfort zone from Celtic Thistle Stitches

It is a new decade so time for some changes to this blog. Over the last year the New to Me posts were, for me, less about the link party and more about a nudge to post at least once a month. So I am still going to write posts about anything I have tried out because you know I love to experiment, but won't be hosting the link party as well. I rarely link up to parties these days so it is not very fair to expect other bloggers to do something I am not doing myself!

I ...

Not quite going to plan from Celtic Thistle Stitches

Merry Christmas one and all, welcome to the last New to Me link party of 2019.

I hope that you are enjoying a lovely day wherever you are, I shall be celebrating our grandson's first birthday today so have an extra reason to be joyful!

As it is the 25th of the month it is also time to celebrate our attempts at trying out a new technique or activity in December.

New to Me's have been thin on the ground here as we have been having some work done to the house so I have essentially been confined ...

First time woes! from Celtic Thistle Stitches

Time to reflect on the New to Me activities and experiences that I have attempted in November.

For a change this month, most of my New to Me's are actually sewing-related but as you can probably tell from the title of this post they haven't been entirely successful :(

First up, my local Quilters group hosted a Christmas themed sewing day at the beginning of the month, where we were making origami gift bags and hexagon star table mats. I didn't get to the group on the day as I was still furiously stitching away on my "Wynken ...

Exploring a New to Me Country from Celtic Thistle Stitches

Welcome to October's New to Me link party.

https://celticthistlestitches.blogspot.com/

Those of you who follow me on Instagram will already know that I spent the last three weeks enjoying the sights and tastes (!) of Japan, so there have been lots of travel New to Me's this month, and not a single sewing N2Me :)

My first ride on a bullet train, followed by several more over the course of the three weeks. They were a very pleasant change from the usual service here in the UK, I can tell you. Immaculate inside and out, punctual and fast what more could you ...
